Ossify Update - Taking Our Time to Build Something Great
Hey everyone,
We wanted to give you an honest update on where Ossify stands and where we're headed. Life happened, holidays were much needed, and we've made the decision to push our milestones by about 6 months. Here's the full story.
Why the Delay?
Let's be real - building an app while juggling other projects and life commitments is challenging. Over the past few months, we got slammed with other work, and the holiday season reminded us how important it is to step back, recharge, and come back stronger.
Rather than rushing to hit arbitrary deadlines and shipping something half-baked, we made the conscious choice to take our time. This 6-month adjustment is both optimistic and realistic - we're confident in this timeline while giving ourselves room to do things right.
What We've Been Working On
The delay doesn't mean we've been idle. Here's what we've tackled:
UX / UI Improvements
- Refined the overall user experience based on early feedback
- Polished the interface to feel more intuitive and cohesive
- Made the app feel like something we're genuinely proud of
Optimization Work
- Performance improvements under the hood
- Smoother interactions and faster load times
- Better state management for a more responsive experience
Foundation for the Future
Most importantly, we've focused on getting the app into a state where progress becomes easy. The codebase is cleaner, more modular, and ready for rapid development. We wanted to eliminate the friction that slows down feature development.
The New Timeline
With this adjustment, here's our updated roadmap:
- Phase 1 (April 2026): Core foundation - profiles, gym directory, tracking
- Phase 2 (July 2026): Community features - social connections, training partners
- Phase 3 (Q3 2026): Level up - premium features and advanced tools
- Phase 4 (Q4 2026): Open mat - gym management and broader ecosystem
- Phase 5 (2027): Competition tracking and analytics
Keeping the Momentum
From here on out, we're committed to maintaining steady momentum. The groundwork is done. The technical debt is paid. Now it's about building features at a pace we're excited about - not burning out trying to hit unrealistic targets.
We believe the BJJ community deserves an app built with care, not rushed to market. Thanks for sticking with us on this journey.
